BANDAMA: EXTINCT VOLCANO OF GRAN CANARIA
A few kilometres from Las Palmas is the Caldera de Bandama, a great volcanic crater about 1 km in diameter and 200 metres deep. It has formed more than 4,000 years ago during one of the last eruptions on the island. Today it is an extinct volcano, covered in green vegetation, with paths that make it easy to explore.
Inside the crater are the remains of an old farmhouse, where grapes were once cultivated and wine was made thanks to the fertile soil.

📍 How to get there
By car: can be reached in about 20 minutes from Las Palmas, following the GC-802 road.
On foot: the path down into the crater is about 3 km long round trip.
By bus: there are regular trips from Las Palmas.
💡 Useful Tips
- Bring comfortable walking shoes, as the path is steep in places.
- Don't forget your camera: the view from the Mirador is really beautiful.
