TEROR: AN AUTHENTIC VILLAGE IN THE HEART OF GRAN CANARIA

La Virgen del Pino: The Spiritual Heart of Gran Canaria

The Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pino is one of the most important places for the people of Gran Canaria. Every year, on 8 September, thousands of people arrive on foot from all over the island for the festival dedicated to the patron saint.

Even if you are not a believer, it is worth entering: the building is very beautiful and the square is ideal for taking a break.

On Sunday mornings, the village is filled with life. The market is one of the most famous on the island, and find local products not found in supermarkets.

• Queso de flor: a cheese made with vegetable rennet, with an intense flavour.
• Local honey: produced in the mountains around the village.
• Handicrafts: bags, ceramics, jewellery, all handmade by local craftsmen.

Better to arrive early: there are fewer people and the country is quieter.

If you like walking, there are several paths around Teror. One of the most beautiful is the one that leads to the Finca de Osorio, surrounded by woods and with beautiful views of the valley.
