FUENTE DE LOS AZULEJOS: A NATURAL PAINTING OF GRAN CNARIA

Along the GC-200, between Mogán and La Aldea de San Nicolás, there is a special place called Fuente de los Azulejos. Here the rocks have different colours, from green to yellow and red, as if they were painted. These colours are the result of volcanic phenomena and water that has modified the rocks over time.

The landscape seems almost out of this world, a place to see if you are curious about nature

For those who enjoy walking, there are two interesting routes:

• A path of medium difficulty with panoramic views of the mountains and the sea.
• A route along mineral streams to see the coloured rocks up close and understand how water has changed the landscape.

Next to the Fuente de los Azulejos is the Las Cañadas Restaurant, famous for its typical Canarian cuisine:

• Grilled meat, considered among the best in the area.
• Papas arrugadas con mojo classic potatoes with canary sauce.
  
• Fresh juice of orange and mango, prepared from fruit grown directly there, very refreshing.

How to get there 

By car: the Fuente de los Azulejos is located along the GC-200, easily recognisable by its colours.
By bus:  there are local lines, but the most convenient way is by car.
On Foot: from the car park next to the road can be reached with a short walk.

• Bring your camera: colours change depending on the sunlight, creating beautiful and different images.
• Use hiking shoes if you want to do the longer trails.
• Try fresh fruit juice restaurant, it is a simple but pleasant experience.
